14:45pm – 15:45pm
Explore the history of cultural boycott and apartheid, in South Africa and around the world.
For the first time, in 2012, South Africa’s ruling party – the African National Congress (ANC) – endorsed the call for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel, as part of its official policy.
Beginning with a 10-minute spoken word and poetry performance by award-winning poet and playwright Sabrina Mahfouz, artists, academics and practitioners come together to discuss the theory and practice of cultural boycotts in a conversation chaired by Omar El-Khairy.
The panel of speakers includes Jay Pather, Nadia Davids, Aimee Shalan and Dana Mills.
Free event.
